Our Beliefs

1. The Scriptures

We believe that the Scriptures, which consist of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God, plenary in content, inerrant in the original writings, complete in revelation, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life.

Isa. 40:8; Prov. 30:5, 6; II Tim. 3:16, 17; John 10:35; II Peter 1:19-21.

2. The Godhead

We believe in the One true and living God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices.

a) GOD THE FATHER

We believe that God is a sovereign, living, intelligent, rational being who is the creator and supreme ruler of heaven and earth. He is Spirit, Life, Light and Love. He is eternal, almighty, omniscient, inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honour, love and worship.

Gen. 1:1, 26; Prov. 30:4; Mark 12:29; Matt. 28:19; II Cor. 13:14; John 1:1-4; Acts 5:3, 4; John 10:30.

b) JESUS CHRIST

 - His Deity & His Virgin Birth

We believe in the Deity of the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who was begotten of the Holy Spirit in a miraculous manner; born of Mary, a virgin, as no other man was ever born or can ever be born of women, and that He is true God and true man.

Gen. 3:15; Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-35; Phil. 2:6-11; John 1:1-14.

 - His Death

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.

I Cor. 15:1-4; Heb. 10:9-12; Rom. 3:24.

 - His Resurrection

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there as High Priest and Advocate.

I Cor. 15:1-20; John 20:24-29; Acts 1:10-11; Heb. 1:3; 4:14-16; 7:25; I Tim. 2:5.

c) THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, indwells all believers in the present age, baptizes them into the body of Christ, seals them unto the day of redemption, and that it is a duty of ever believer to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9; I Cor. 12:12-14; Ephesians 1:13-14; 5:18).

We believe in this church age that the Holy Spirit indwells each and every believer from the moment he receives Jesus Christ as Saviour. We believe this indwelling alone makes it possible to live a victorious Christian life. We believe that modern day speaking in tongues and divine healing movements are not related as outward evidence of the Spirit-filled life. We believe that the Spirit-filled life is to be the normal experience of every born again Christian and that regardless of one’s occupation or profession, he is filled with the Spirit when he is in fellowship with Jesus Christ and His Word. We are filled with the Spirit for the purpose of serving and reaching others for Christ.

I Cor. 6:19, 20; Rom. 8:1-14; John 14:16-18; 16:7-14; Eph. 6:17; 5:18.

3. The Devil

We believe in the personality of Satan; that his is not merely an abstract power of influence but a living, personal being; that he is the unholy god of this age; and that author of the powers of darkness; and is destined to the judgement of an eternal justice in the Lake of Fire.

Matt. 4:1-4; Mark 1:13; II Cor. 4:4; Eph. 2:2; Rev. 20:10; John 8:44; I Peter 5:8.

4. Creation

We believe and accept the literal Genesis account of creation; that man came by direct creation of God, and not by evolution.

Gen. 1:2; Col. 1:16, 17; John 1:3.

5. The Fall Of Man

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred not only the physical death, but also that spiritual death which is a separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and by choice are sinners in thought, word and deed. He became alienated from God, and is totally unable to retrieve his former condition by his own merit.

Gen. 1:26, 27; 2:7-9, 16, 17; Psalm 51:5; 58:3; Rom. 3:9-18; 5:12; Eph. 2:1-3; Rom. 3:23; Deut. 1:39.

6. Salvation

 - Regeneration

We believe that the Lord Jesus died according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and rose again for our justification; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the basis of His shed blood, and are saved by grace through faith wholly apart from human merit and works.

Acts 13:38; 16:31; Rom. 3:21-28; Eph. 2:8-10; Titus 3:3-8.

We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God and thereby become the children of God, possessing eternal life.

John 3:3-16; 1:12, 13; 5:24; 10:18, 29; I Peter 1:23; II Peter 1:4-11.

 - Soul Liberty

We believe in the “soul Liberty” of every individual. Soul liberty is the implementation of the truth that “We must all obey God rather than men.” Every man must give answer to God individually, and therefore no other man, and no other church can act as his conscience now. He has the right to interpret the Scriptures for himself, and the responsibility to answer to God for the way in which he does so. He has, as a believer, the Holy Spirit to guide and enable him apart from any other ministry of man or the church.

I John 2:27; Rom. 14:5; II Tim. 2:15; I Cor. 2:9-14.

 - Priesthood Of Believers

We believe in the priesthood of all believers; that all believers have immediate access into the Holiest by the blood of the Lord Jesus; that we need no human agency to intercede for us before the throne of grace, and that the Lord Jesus Christ is our only mediator before God.

Heb. 10:19; I Peter 1:1-10; Heb. 13:15, 16; I Tim. 2:5.

 - Security & Assurance Of The Believer

We believe that all of the redeemed, that is, those who are born again, are kept by God’s power and are secure in Christ for eternity.
John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1, 38, 39; I Cor. 1:4-8; I Peter 1:5.

We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God’s Word which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh.
Rom. 13:13; Gal. 5:13; Rom. 6:1, 2; Titus 2:11-15.

 - Eternal Destiny

We believe that everyone, saved and unsaved, shall face God in judgement. According to the Scriptures, the judgement of the saved will be separate from the judgement of the unsaved. We believe that the Scriptures teach these judgements shall be as follows:

 - Judgement Of Christians

Christians shall at this time be judged according to their works from the time they received Christ Jesus as their Saviour until the time they stand before Him in judgement. They shall be rewarded or they shall suffer loss according as their works shall be.

This takes place at the Judgement Seat of Christ.

I Cor. 3:11-15; II Cor. 5:10.

 - Judgement Of The Unsaved

All the unsaved shall at this time be judged according to their works and cast into the Lake of Fire to suffer forever according as their works shall be. This is called the Great White Throne Judgement.

Revelation 20:11-15.

7. Last Things.

a) Resurrection & Return Of Christ

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, His ascension into heaven, His present life there as our High Priest and Advocate. We believe in Christ’s personal return in a visible body with His church at the close of the tribulation to establish His millennial kingdom on earth.

Luke 24:36-47; John 20:24-29; Acts 1:9-11; I Cor. 15:20-25; I Tim. 6:14; Rev. 1:5-7; 19:11-16; 20:6.

b) The Rapture Of The Church

We believe in the bodily, personal, premillennial, pretribulational, and imminent return of Jesus Christ; that He will come before the seven year tribulation period to catch away His Church, coming only into the air, and that He will come with His Church at the close of the Tribulation to judge the living nations and to set up His Kingdom on earth.

I Thess. 4:13-18; Matt. 25:31-46; Rev. 19:11-21; I Cor. 15:51-58; Acts 1:10, 11; Titus 2:11-13.

c) Order Of Events

 - We believe that this age will end with the rapture of the mystical body of the church. At that time the Holy Spirit as the restrainer and indweller will be removed from the world, thus paving the way for the following events.

 - The Day of God’s Wrath, commonly known as the Great Seven Year Tribulation period, and the last week of the prophetic 70 Weeks given to Daniel.
Dan. 9:24-27; 12:1; Rev. 6:16, 17; I Thess. 1:10; 5:9.

 - The revealing and judgement of the wicked one, commonly known as the Antichrist or the Son of Perdition.
II Thess. 2:3-17; Rev. 19:20; 20:10.

 - The Revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ when He comes back to the earth with His saints to stand on the Mount of Olives in the full radiance of His eternal glory.
Matt. 24:27-31; Jude 14, 15; Zechariah 14:1-9.

 - The Judgement of the Nations.
Matt. 25:31, 32.

 - The Resurrection of the righteous dead. Old Testament and Tribulation Saints.
Revelation 20:6.

 - The Millennial Reign of the Lord Jesus Christ as King. A literal reign of 1,000 years on earth over all people, nations and tongues. This will especially be the fulfilment of the promises to Israel for their Messiah the King to reign on the throne of David.
Revelation 20:4-6; Phil. 2:9-11.

 - The Resurrection of the wicked dead.
Revelation 20:6.

 - The Great White Throne Judgement and Eternity.
Revelation 20:7-15; I Cor. 15:22-25; Rev. 21:22.

8. The Church.

We believe that the Church, which is now the body and bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again persons of this age irrespective of their affiliation with Christian organizations.

Eph. 1:22-23; 5:25-27; I Cor. 12:12-14.

 - The Local Church

We believe that a local church is a congregation of baptised, born again believers, who are called out of this world unto Christ, and associated by the common faith and fellowship of the Gospel; organized to meet together for the purpose of observing the ordinances, and to carry out the principles, precepts and commission of Christ; and for the exercise of worship, prayer, testimony and all the rights, privileges, and gifts invested in them by God’s Word.

I Tim. 3:15; Acts 2:41-47; 14:23; Eph. 4:11-16; Matt. 28:18-20.

 - Officers

We believe the Scriptural officers of the church are pastors (elders, bishops) and deacons, whose qualifications and duties are clearly defined in the New Testament.

Phil. 1:1; Acts 6; Titus 1; I Tim. 3:1-11.

 - Separation

We believe in the separation of Church and State, with each having definite and distinct spheres of responsibility.

Matt. 22:17-21.

 - Ecclesiastical Government

We hold that the local church has absolute right of self-government, free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals, or organizations; and that the one and only Head is Christ, through the Holy Spirit; that it is Scriptural for true churches to co-operate with each other in contending for the faith and for the furtherance of the gospel; that every church is the sole judge of the measure and method of its co-operation; on all matters of membership, of policy, of government, of discipline, or benevolence, the will of the church is final.

Acts 2:41, 42; I Cor. 11:2; Eph. 1:22, 23; 4:11, 12; Acts 20:27, 28; I Tim. 3:1-7; Col. 1:18; Eph. 5:23, 24; Acts 15:13-18.

 - Ordinances

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted the Ordinances of Baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper to be observed until His return; that baptism is symbolic of the believer’s death to the old nature and his new life in Christ; that the Lord’s Supper is symbolic of the broken body and shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Further we believe that Christian baptism is by immersion of a believer in water to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, and our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; that it is a prerequisite to church membership. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is the commemoration of His death until He comes, and should be preceded always by solemn self-examination.

Acts 8:36-39; John 3:23; Rom. 6:3-5; Matt. 3:16; Col. 2:12; I Cor. 11: 23-28.

 - Missions

We believe that the true mission of the church is to complete itself by witnessing to the whole world concerning the saving gospel of Christ. We believe that it is the privilege and responsibility of every believer to be a personal soul winner and to do his utmost to give the gospel of Christ to the whole world.

Mark 16:15; Acts 1:3; John 17:18; 20:21; II Cor. 5:20.

 - Separation.

We believe that the saved are called to be a people separated unto Christ; to search the Scriptures, to abide in Christ, to walk in the Spirit, to enjoy victory over the world, the flesh, and the devil and to separate from all evil, error or compromise.

Rom. 12:1, 2; James 4:4; I John 2:15-17; II Cor. 6:14; 7:1; Col. 3:1-17; Rom. 6:1-14; Gal. 5:16-25.

 - Sanctification.

We believe that sanctification is the separation and dedication of a person or object to and for God, to belong wholly to Him and to be used for His glory.

I Thess. 5:23; I Cor. 6:11.

9. Sign Gifts.

We believe that the sign gifts, namely “Healing,” “Working of Miracles,” “Tongues,” and “The Interpretation Of Tongues,” were temporary in nature. The function of these gifts of the Holy Spirit was confirmatory. God was authenticating the authority and message of His servants by “bearing them witness” through the manifestations of supernatural power. Since we now have the completed Scriptures to authenticate the claims of Christ and to point the lost to Christ we believe the sign gifts are no longer valid for today.

I Cor. 13:8-13; I Cor. 14:22; Hebrews 2:3-4.

 - Baptism Of The Holy Spirit & Spiritual Gifts.

We believe that in the life of each believer there is one baptism of the Holy Spirit which occurs at the point of salvation and by which the Holy Spirit places the believer into union with Christ. This excludes all other so-called “Baptism” of the Holy Spirit.

I Cor. 12-13; Gal. 3:26-28; Rom. 6:3, 4; Rom. 8:9; Eph. 1:13, 14.

We further believe that God the Holy Spirit in grace and apart from human merit sovereignly bestows spiritual gifts to believers in this age for the building up of the body of Christ. Some of the spiritual gifts are pastor-teacher, evangelist, administrator, helper, giving, and showing of mercy.

I Cor. 12-13; Eph. 4:7-12; Romans 12:4-8.
